Cardiovascular disease is prevalent in our world. It's also preventable.
Risk factors include high blood pressure and/or high cholesterol; a high-fat diet or obesity; diabetes, tobacco use, physical inactivity, family history, or in some cases ethnicity.
Many of these risk factors are controllable. Improve your health and you can reduce your risk of heart attack by up to 80 percent.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends some key steps:
Eat a healthy diet and maintain a healthy weight
Monitor your blood pressure and cholesterol levels
Don't smoke - limit your alcohol use
Manage other medical conditions
GET ACTIVE!
We'd love to help you with that last one. In fact, we're all fired up for adding new and fun ways to improve wellness and our own and our members' fitness levels.
That's why we are so excited about our 10-Minute Fitness program. Starting March 1 we have six classes a week that average just ten minutes in length. They all include some heart-healthy high intensity and lots of variety to build strength and vitality. Hannah and Nicole have added 10-Minute classes on Wednesday and Friday at noon - you can have your workout and still enjoy the lunch hour.
Research is showing that you may not need as much organized fitness time as you think to improve your health and love your heart. Give 10-Minute Fitness a try - booking your week's worth of classes is a great way to get yourself motivated. Let's GO!
